I have had multiple encounters with staff and physicians at urgent care following an accident with my bike. primarily my care has been provided by Dr. W. Schoombee and Angela in the cast clinic. The care i have received to date has been excellent. Dr. Schoombee is an excellent communicator and obviously a very caring individual. He has taken time to answer my many questions and to enuire I understand my care decisions and any potential risks. He has been thorough in his assessments and clinically picked up a fracture not initially seen radiographically and then took the appropriate steps to confirm.
Angela is also a good communicator and very good to work with. I have had multiple casts and she listens and tries hard to minimize the discomfort of wearing the casts. She is efficient but not at the expense of being approachable or appearing rushed.
My interactions with other staff have also been positive. There was a bit of a mix up with one of my referrals and the Unit Clerk helping me took extra pains to find the referral and called me back with the information I needed.
I have had multiple xrays and my multiple fractures make me slow moving. they have been patient despite being very busy.
My only very minor comment that is slightly less positive is about signage. it is confusing when you walk into Urgent Care to know where exactly to go to been seen at Triage. There is a reception desk at the entrance to the Centre but that is for other services in the building not for being triaged into urgent care. It didn't take long to figure out where to go but the signage could be enhanced.
