After being dismissed and semi treated by a different hospital, I presented to this hospital as I was still having migraine symptoms for 6 days. They were very unusual for me, especially the length of symptoms. I had went to another hospital with a migraine and given meds but no diagnostics were preformed.
I had to wait 19 hours to see a doctor which wasn’t ideal because the condition that brought me to this hospital was Thrombosis in my brain. (Which the Royal Alex found and diagnosed,)
However, once I saw a doctor things moved quickly and I felt like they actually wanted to figure out the cause of my week long migraine. The doctors, nurses, technicians and support staff were really great at explaining things clearly to me, helping me to manage my stress of the situation (I had alot of firsts that day, first spinal tap, first IV, first CT scan, ect) and even the woman that came to tell me I was being admitted came off really kind.
This was a big deal to me as by the time I was talking to medical professionals I had been sleep deprived as well as food deprived for quite sometime. Definitely a bit of my fault and a result of the long wait.
I am so grateful for the ER doctor (Dr. O’Riley, I think) that chose to believe me and look further into things rather than attribute things to my mental illness, even when my bloods and neuro test came back fine. You absolutely saved my life, or at the very least saved me from a massive stroke. Its a huge deal to me any my family.
When I was admitted the Nurses and Doctor on internal medicine were absolutely amazing. Nurse Mary was really a stand out to me. Her demeanour brought some positivity to the drab and stressful environment that is a hospital room. She also came off her break to help teach my husband how to help me administer a medication at home. Which is definitely above and beyond in my books.
Dr. Cena was very clear and communicative, also quite compassionate and ensured that I was connected to the appropriate specialists during my hospitalization and after as well.
Dr. Bautista was also amazing and not only answered my questions but ended up stopping by while my family was visiting me and handled all their questions really and in a kind manner.
Dr. Faragasnu (likely, spelling wrong) had great and clear communication and was really interested in getting to the bottom of why things were happening as they were which means we are definitely on the same page.
Really, the team at The Royal Alex was phenomenal and I am really grateful that the urgent care centre near there was closed, and that ended up here instead.
