About: Quality Care Medical Centre

(as a service user),

During a follow up visit with my family physician at Quality Care Medical Centre in north Edmonton, my doctor asked if it was okay if she used AI to 'listen and make notes' from our conversation.  I happily agreed and that reminded me to ask her if I could record our conversation using the app called 'My Care Conversation' that Alberta Health Services developed several years ago.  I have found that app very helpful in various family health situations, and was pleased to have two technical/communication innovations used during the visit! To date, I don't routinely get notes from doctor visits and having the details recorded to jog my memory is very helpful.  I have heard about an AI tool that some doctors use that actually projects a summary of the conversation on a screen  in the examining room as it is happening in real time! This might even be better, as I would have had the opportunity to read in real time what was being summarized.  Perhaps if summary notes from the visit were shared in real time and subsequently shared with me through my digital health record, that might even be better as both parties would have exactly the same information.
