"The Difference When You Feel Heard and Involved"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital

(as a carer),

My husband was recently treated at the Royal Alex for an interesting and complex case.  While the journey to get him there and get the care he required was lacking and even negligent at times, in my opinion.

The care we both received when he was finally in the hospital was amazing. In particular his current active care physician, Dr. Nazia Shams, who made us feel heard, who answered all our questions, who ensured we were both comfortable with his returning home for his recovery. Giving us the time to discuss the measures we needed to do to get him home safely and securely while not adding more stress to my current already over scheduled life.  Ensuring we had the support from home care professionals that we both needed for this to be a better transition.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to her and how this lowered my stress levels allowing me to better advocate for him and be part of the care planning team.
